ST and World Vision

Celebrating Christmas together is a part of working life at Specialised Therapeutics. We traditionally share a lovely meal, entertainment and gifts, but we are always mindful of those who are less fortunate during the festive season.

Each year, ST founders Carlo Montagner and Bozena Zembrzuski make a donation to World Vision on behalf of every ST employee to acknowledge the festive season and to demonstrate one of our key company values in action – HUMANITY.

Every employee is provided detail of where their ‘gift’ is deployed. This way, the philanthropic mindset of our founders is shared across our business and this spirit of giving is enjoyed by all.

In 2017, our team provided enough funds to sustain agricultural activities for 80 farming families. In 2018, our donations contributed to providing emergency supplies, family essentials, farm animals, childhood immunisations and clean water. Our donations also helped to provide education for young girls and to train farmers in food production.

We are proud to give where we can and sharing our good fortune is important to us – not only locally, but globally.

Our Philanthropic Heart

ST is a long-standing sponsor and supporter of Specialists Without Borders (soon to become Pangea). This not-for-profit group was established in 2008 and its mission is to send teams of Australian medical specialists to developing countries where they can upskill their peers in innovative and potentially life-saving medical techniques. Our CEO Carlo Montagner joined Australian medical teams on this year’s mission and provides the following insight.

“I have had the pleasure of spending a couple of days with a dedicated group of Aussie and Kiwi specialists, medical students and nurses in Africa.

We have provided financial support to this amazing organisation for several years and now, it  is truly humbling to see the team in action.

These medical specialists pay their own airfares and accomodation to assist and train their peers in developing countries. They also sacrifice two weeks of their own annual leave to come here and provide both theoretical and high-quality hands-on practical medical education.

I am truly inspired by what they are doing and achieving – always with a smile, and with a tremendous energy and passion that is infectious.

No other organisation I know does this work. What these teams are doing will benefit the lives of many in the local African communities of Malawi and Zimbabwe.

And importantly, they are leaving an enduring legacy. This work means better healthcare for many people in these communities not only immediately, but for many generations.”

– Carlo Montagner, Specialised Therapeutics CEO.

ST sponsors Jomar Life Research

ST is proud to sponsor events and causes aligned with our mission.

We were recognised as platinum sponsors of Jomar Life Research as it navigated the 2018 Mystery Box Rally – a 2500 kilometre outback adventure raising money for cancer research. Behind the wheel? Jomar employees Sarah Fardy and Sue Ang,who navigated the treacherous adventure in extreme heat in a car with no air-conditioning! Jomar raised almost $12,000 for cancer research through this event – almost tripling their original target. Bravo, Jomar.

10 Years of Giving: Our Commitment to Global Health

Specialised Therapeutics is proud and committed to supporting a range of organisations and charities that are aligned with our business and healthcare mission. This philosophy and mindset is embedded in all parts of our business. Since we were founded 11 years ago, we have prudently selected synergistic causes where our contribution can make a difference – in research, in clinical development, in academia and in professional development. To date, we have provided corporate support to groups including Rare Cancers Australia, The Private Cancer Physicians of Australia organisation, the Australasian Gastro-Intestinal Trials Group, Dragons Abreast and the Upper GI Cancer Registry. We are also proud sponsors of the AGITG New Concepts Symposium, which recognises the best new research concepts each year at the AGITG annual scientific meeting.
